Lovely story told with rich furs and frosty colors. Models Zaya, Min Young, Gwen and Kim Kook play nomadic Mongolian girls, with amazing fur collections. The styling, done by Donald Lawrence, also included touches of crocodile, and an amazing jewelry piece on display on the first page. Photographed by Melissa Rodwell.
Fantastic images, love every detail. Craig McDean is incredible. This editorial is from the September 2008 issue of Another. Styled by Marie Amalie Sauve, featuring models Amanda Laine, Bridget Hall, Guinevere van Seenus, Han Hye Jin, Jessica Stam, Kinga Rajzak, Missy Rayder, Siri Tollerod, Suvi Koponen, Taryn Davidson, and Tasha Tilberg. Dreamy, or trippy actually, this pictorial is like a world from the mind of an artist gone mad. Every shot can be an art piece on its own, I would actually love to decorate my walls with these. Look at the detail of the jacket in the fifth image down, amazing.
Anne Hathaway is playing a darker role than usual in this Interview Magazine editorial, perhaps she is preparing us for her jump into the very dark character of Catwoman. The shoot was photographed by Mert and Marcus. I love the lace and the dark angel theme, the images are absolutely beautiful.
Editorial titled “Zycie” from the May 2011 issue of Zink Magazine. Model Weronika Gawrys shot by Cristian Di Stefano. The mood of the shoot is so dreamy, I love the surreal feel of the reflective shot. Kudos to stylist Alegna Merlino Seyer, I want all these pieces in my closet, now.
Another great fall editorial with a gorgeous outdoor setting. I love when the background images work so well with the styling and the model. Model Luisa Bianchin, shot by Thomas Krappitz, styled by fashion editor, Monika Kropfitsch. The looks include pieces by Yves Saint Laurent, Fendi and Max Mara.
Pierre Dal Corso, a French photographer, is known for provocative images and for really utilizing color in his work. I fell in love when I saw the image with the red coat. The colors are classic, but the styling is very contemporary. This pictorial was featured in the 2010 Holiday issue of Zink Magazine. The model is Natallia K, the styling was done by Sophie Clauzel.
Lovely, dark, bondage-inspired pictorial shot by Mert and Marcus for the September 2011 issue of Interview Magazine, styled by Karl Templer. Models Candice Swanepoel, Saskia de Brauw, Anais Pouliot, Zuzanna Bijoch, and Emily Baker are captivating and the images might just inspire some bondage themselves.
Great editorial to kick off the fall season, makes me want to bundle up with hot chocolate. Model Kim Noorda, shot by Rennio Maifredi, styled by Laura Seganti, for the September 2011 issue of Marie Claire Italia. The editorial is titled “Il Fascino del Grigio”.
Alison Arboux looks gorgeous channeling Bridget Bardot in this Parisian pictorial. The look is incredibly sexy. The editorial was shot by Jonathan Segade.
Editorial from Vogue China August 2011. Model Liu Wen, shot by Lachlan Bailey, styled by Anne Christensen. This pictorial is filled with great fall pieces, I especially love the plaid coat in the second image.
Bat For Lashes, aka Natasha Khan, is an English songstress who has been a favorite among the fashion crowd since her first album, Fur And Gold, came out in 2006. Her music is beautifully melodious but moody, and honest, it lends itself perfectly to the contemporary fashion scene. Her style is her own, she mixes tank tops, vintage dresses, feathers, and glitter to create looks that would not be out of place in an LA dance club, but also make you think of fairies and magic. I love her because she says what she feels, and she seems to enjoy being herself in the spotlight. RYGGRAD girl, all the way.
Crazy fierce editorial from V Magazine Spain April 2010 issue. Model Masha Novoselova, photographed by Txema Yeste. Masha is fantastic. The energy that a story titled “Go Wild!” really needs to live up to its name is definitely there, Masha has this scary intensity in her eyes and her poses show no inhibition. She can’t be tamed.
Models Joan Smalls, Karmen Pedaru & Ming Xi star in this moody fall pictorial, photographed by Emma Summerton. The styling is very lady-like but with a serious dose of dominatrix.
Editorial from July/August 2011 issue of Jalouse Magazine. Featuring actress Hailey Gates, who dawns a short blonde wig for the shoot, instead of her signature long brunette hair. Shot by Stacey Mark, titled “Paris, Texas”. The sexy French girl bored in a hotel room thing isn’t anything new, but I like how it’s done. The styling is not overdone, it feels real, nostalgic, and fun.
Hedi Slimane’s photography has really captured the attention of the fashion world. His work is truly iconic. This pictorial, titled “Tough Love”, is featured in the August 2011 issue of Vogue Japan, it stars Sasha Pivovarova. Hedi had also photographed Sasha for Paris Vogue back in 2008, that editorial is still one of my all-time favorites. This one is styled by Mika Mizutani, incorporating pieces from Balenciaga, Yves Saint Laurent, Rick Owens, and Haider Ackermann.
Model Karmen Peradu shot by Fabien Baron , styled by Marie-Amélie Sauvé. Pictorial is featured in the August 2011 issue of Interview Magazine, and titled “The Clash”.
Editorial from the March 2011 issue of Vogue China, featuring Agyness Deyn. Shot by Hedi Slimane, styled by Melanie Ward, hair by Didier Malige, make up by Rose Marie Swift. Great styling, love the earring.
Photographers Mert and Marcus may have outdone themselves in the Fall/Winter issue of Love Magazine. They shot 8 covers for the issue featuring Chloe Moretz, Elle Fanning, Hailee Steinfeld, Nyasha Matonhodze, Lara Stone, Mariacarla Boscono, Kristen McMenamy, and Daphne Groeneveld. The styling is by Katie Grand, Arianne Phillips, and Panos Yiapanis. The issue is titled Super Natural, and it definitely has a fairy tale theme. The covers are beautiful and the editorial shots inside do not disappoint.
Another great editorial, courtesy of Steven Meisel. The spread features contrasting looks on Raquel, one very high society and the next one grunge. I love the beauty of the posh shots but there are some great pieces worked into the other side as well. Styled by Karl Templer.
As summer comes to an end the weather at the beach gets cooler, but if you still want to hang out on the shore consider these great cover up ideas from the July issue of French Vogue.
There is an insane 65-page pictorial in the August 2011 issue of French Vogue. It’s titled “Escape to LA” as the whole thing was shot in Los Angeles. The model cast for the spread is as mind-blowing as it’s length, it includes Lara Stone (official current goddess of French Vogue), Arizona Muse, Natasha Poly, Isabeli Fontana, Raquel Zimmermann, and our girl, Freja Beha Erichsen. It was shot by Inez van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin. Each model has her own setting and style, each one different from the others. It’s hard to pick a favorite. Instead, I’m posting a shot from each model’s pictorial, and maybe a couple more that I just can’t bear not posting.
