Coco Rocha for Elle Canada

I love Coco Rocha and so does Jean Paul Gaultier. She is decked out in his designs once again on the cover of and in this spread from Elle Canada May 2011 issue.

Marie Claire Spain – Beachwear

Fantastic editorial from Marie Claire Spain June 2011 issue, shot by David Roemer. I love the dramatic styling of the black garments against the bright beach and waves.

Iza Olak for Elle Spain

Love the other-worldly feel of the setting and the soft colors in this story. Model Iza Olak for Elle Spain July 2011. Great styling, amazing sheer and metallic pieces.

Edie Campbell – Numéro China May 2011

Edie Campbell is a really versatile model it seems, she can look like a school girl, all dolled up old-school glamorous, and apparently with the right make up, kind of Asian. The editorial was shot by Tiziano Magni for Numéro China May 2011 issue (#8) and styled by Joseph Carle. There are some great pieces in this spread, I love the really low crotch harem pants, and the mustard-colored embellished top. Once again the beige leather Gucci top has made it’s way into yet another editorial, I think this is the third one, maybe even fourth, that I’ve spotted it in, does that garment have it’s own marketing team?

Amy Winehouse – In Memory of a Brilliant Talent

By now the news of the passing of Amy Winehouse has made its way around the world, and I’m sure many of you are as grief-stricken as I am. This is my little memorial for the talented and tragic Amy.

She was one of the stars who captured the attention of the world. Her music is original and yet, nostalgic. It’s real, it has much emotion and it speaks of a person who isn’t perfect, a person who struggles with many issues, and hurts deeply. And, her music is beautiful. It has brought me a great amount of pleasure, and I feel consoled in that we will always have at least this much of her.

Her impact on fashion was enormous. Everyone knows her look, and a great number of designers and stylists emulated it, over many seasons. She has earned her place as a fashion icon, with the likes of Kurt Cobain, who passed away at the same age as Amy, 27. Actually, 27 is the age at which many great musical icons have left us, including Jimmy Hendrix, Janis Joplin, and Jim Morrison. I keep thinking of the lyrics from “Front Row” by Metric,

“Burnout stars they shine so bright…”

Vogue Turkey – On The Morning of The Club

This editorial from the July 2011 issue of Vogue Turkey depicts some very fun girls the morning after a night of partying. The styling is that perfect disheveled sexy that is so intriguing even to those of us who are normally well-behaved and groomed to perfection. Models Viktoriya Sasonkina & Eliza Cummings, photographed by Hugh Lippe.

V Magazine #71 – Butoh In Black

Very surreal and haunting editorial, brings to mind Japanese horror films, very beautiful. Models Sui He and Aline Weber, photographed by Glen Luchford, styled by Beat Bolliger.

Fall 2011 Shoe Trend – Extraterrestrial

The “extraterrestrial” theme is everywhere right now, movies, music, and fashion. Here are some great shoes from the Fall 2011 collections that also look like alien technology.

Ros Georgiou for AMICA Magazine

Ros Georgiou is another rising star of the modeling world. This is an editorial spread from the June 2011 issue of AMICA Magazine. Love the look of the strong eyebrows and the natural-looking volume of her hair.

Interview Magazine June/July 2011

The textures and color are captivating. Love the gloves. Model, Zuzanna Bijoch, shot by Craig McDean.

V Magazine Fall 2011 – Paris Hilton

This issue of V Magazine features an editorial starring Paris Hilton, titled “The Business of Being Paris”. Photographed by Daniele and Iango. This editorial is gorgeous. Everything aside, Paris is a great model and I love the styling.

Dree Hemingway for Zoo Magazine

Zoo Magazine was founded in 2003 in Amsterdam, and it’s got some of that rough around the edges feel of it’s home town, but the styling is on point and the photography is amazing. It is published four times a year, in German and English. This editorial features Dree Hemingway and was shot by Bryan Adams. My favorite pieces, the satin white tee and the one-sleeve tee. I’m also really liking the combo of the burnt orange and the crisp white, overall the looks all feel very fresh and chic.

V Magazine #71 – Girls On Top

There is so much great stuff in the 71st (spring/summer 2011) issue of V Magazine, I don’t even know where to start. This editorial titled “Girls On Top” features models Fei Fei Sun, Liu Wen, Tao Okamoto, and Shu Pei. It’s shot by Terry Tsiolis and styled by Jay Massacret. I love the styling, great strong pieces without many accessories make for outfits with confidence.

Erin Wasson – Summer of Rock

This spread would have been very appropriate to post on Independence Day, however, I hadn’t seen it until last night. This editorial is from Elle France, the June 2011 issue. Shot by Fred Meylan, styled by Anne Marie Brouillet. It’s titled Summer of Rock and it definitely has a Janis Joplin/Americana theme. Erin Wasson is perfect for this spread, this Texas native is the quintessential cool American chick. She makes a great representative of American style.

Happy 4th of July Ryggrad girls!

Abbey Lee Kershaw in Exit Magazine 2010

Feeling a little teen angst from this editorial, and loving the styling.

Ruby Aldridge – Modern Warrior

Ruby Aldridge is decked out in the Burberry Prorsum S/S 2011 collection in this editorial from the Harper’s Bazaar Korea March 2011 issue. Titled Modern Warrior. Photographed by Dancian, styled by Mirim Lee.

Daphne Groeneveld & Andrej Pejic in Vogue Paris

Very powerful and captivating editorial titled “Rive Gauche et Libre”, shot by Mert & Marcus (Mert Alas & Marcus Piggott) for Vogue Paris September 2010 issue. Featuring models Malgosia Bela, Daphne Groeneveld, Andrej Pejic, Josh Parkinson, and Lea T. Styled by Carine Roitfeld. The title translated is “Left Bank and Free”, “left bank” refers to the region of Paris that is a mecca for young artists, and “free” to the freedom from the confignment of traditional sexual roles in society. The editorial celebrates androgyny, the blurring of the line between what is feminine and masculine. The stand out pages to me were the ones featuring Daphne and Andrej. The images of Andrej from this spread have become almost iconic, the image with the rose is as recognizable as his very controversial Dossier ad, that caused such a stir.
